Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Sanlúcar de Barrameda is located in the north-west of the province of Cádiz, on the left bank of the Guadalquivir River. Its area occupies an extension of 166.18 km2 . To the north is the Guadalquivir River, The National Park Doñana and Trebujena; to the east border with Jerez de la Frontera, to the south with Rota and El Puerto de Santa María and to the west with Chipiona, the Atlantic Ocean and the Guadalquivir River again.
The current population of Sanlúcar is about 61.000 habitants.

Sanlúcar de Barrameda belongs to the denomination of origin "Jerez-Xérez_Sherry" y "Manzanilla de Sanlúcar" together with Jerez de la Frontera and El Puerto de Santa María.

The Manzanilla is actually the most international and representative wine of Sanlúcar, due to the Manzanilla can only be produced in Sanlúcar's wineries.

In our wineries is produced beside the Manzanilla all types of Sherries Finos, Amontillados, Olorosos, Palos Cortados, Moscateles y Creams, brandies and punchs.

The Horse Racing in Sanlúcar de Barrameda goes back to the 1845. They are a great sporting event and they are famous by its beaty and unique landscape with its magnificent sunset and overlooking Doñana National Park. In their take part important and pretigious stables and riders either national and international. They have been declared as National Tourist Interest.     

It is considered by UNESCO as a Biosphere reserve by its faunistic and ecological importance as it allows the intercontinental migration of over 250 species of birds.
It is also used as the last refuge for numerous protected species that are in danger of extinction such as the lynx, chameleons, and imperial eagles. Between its varied fauna we find wild boar, Spanish lynx, foxes, deer, fallow deer amongst others. It's also the biggest national park in Europe with an 50720 hectares and more than 26.000 hectares of outlying areas.
